The Mughal empire was one of the longest dynasty's/empires in India. This rule was started by the famous known ruler Babur. The chronological order of the rulers is Babur, Humayun, Akbar The Great, Jahangir, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb etc. The capital was made Agra by Babur. When Akbar became the king he saw that the Agra Fort was in a very ruined state. So he rebuild the whole fort with red sandstone and he also built 300 buildings in the fort itself, so it was a city in itself. Back then there were no fans or AC invented so they build the walls that in the wall water kept flowing and so the people who lived in there were kept cool in summer.

The Agra fort had 4 gates named Delhi Gate, Amar Singh Gate (also known as Lahore Gate), Hathi Pol and the Ghaznin Gate. The Delhi gate is pointed at Delhi. The Amar Singh gate is pointed to Lahore. The Hathi Pol is guarded by 2 live elephants with their riders. The Ghaznin gate is the tomb of Mahmud Ghaznavi. The 2 gates Delhi Gate and the Amar Singh Gate was used for the security of the kings. When Shah Jahan became king his favourite material was marble so he added marble to the aga fort. He also built the Taj Mahal with white marble in remembrance of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the world because nobody knows how the Taj Mahal was built as its structure and architecture are so advanced that even today the architects don't know how people in those days built it. The Mughals were very interesting and they were very hard working too. Akbar was very kind to Indians because he understood the feelings of other people and that is why Akbar is known as Akbar The Great. The Mughal's are very interesting to study.
