A Little Imp

A Little Imp

"Mark!" yelled his mother looking at broken pieces of glass on the floor, "Didn't I tell you not to play with the vase?!" Mark had done it again.

Although he was cheerful, impulsive and kind, he was not very obedient, and was known to be a mischievous little imp. For he could never learn the value of rules and was a risk-taker.

Whether it be delaying his assignments right up to the due date! Or doing something he was told not to. Even his parents were tired of trying to make him understand the same.

This time he had played with a magnificent glass vase which his mother had warned him not to touch.

You would think that he would mend his ways and learn from all the incidents that had occured but you would be wrong. Yes, he regreted his actions instantly, but never did anything against them.

One day it was an early morning and 9 year old Mark was shrieking with excitement. He and his parents were making a trip to the natural forest reserve.

He readily got up at 6 o'clock absolutely thrilled! Which his mother beleived was the first time he got up this early willingly.

They reached their destination gaping at the beautiful birds and animals flocking around while sitting in a jeep with the tour guide. One of the sights they enjoyed viewing the most was a beastly tiger accelerating it's speed while chasing it's prey, a poor but fortunately swift deer.

Fascinated by the views, Mark asked his mother if he could get off the jeep and get a closer view, but his mother refused and warned him that it could be dangerous and it was much safer to see the animals from a distance.

But as always, Mark disobeyed her! And thought that it would not be unsafe, so he sneakily got off the vehicle, and awed in glee at the stunning creatures around him!

The cuckoo singing, the rabbits, the deer playing, and the pitter patter of a waterfall nearby. At last when he was satisfied with staring at them, he turned around to hop back in the jeep. But alas! The jeep was no where to be seen.

Mark anxiously screamed for help, but to no avail. Suddenly he heard loud growls and roars, of what it most definitely seemed to be, a ferocious lion!

Mark's heart skipped a beat and his terrified face grew white with fear. He could hear the sound of the animal's paws on the rustling leaves grow louder as it steadily approached him.

He felt more and more scared by the second when all of a sudden he heard someone shout his name "Mark!" they exclaimed. He wheeled around grateful than ever to see that it was his parents.

He rushed towards them as they gave a sigh of relief and hugged him tightly.

They scolded him for getting off without their knowledge, but after shrugging while hearing an earful, Mark smiled as he had now realised the importance of rules.

At the end of the day, this was a memorable trip for all of them and Mark had finally learnt his lesson!
