A Glimpse of Darjeeling

A Glimpse of Darjeeling

Observe the spruce, the shrubs, the colossal trailing tilt of the hills, the inclination of the knolls and the Sun at the midst of the scenery. It is a utopian dream, mystically celestial, it is the eminent idyllic town of Darjeeling.

Wandering down the mountainous path of Darjeeling is itself of immense excitement. The contrasting background of the sun-bathed orange, steep, snowy tipped Mt. Kanchenjunga is indeed the spatial awareness you need to comprehend its magnanimous terrains.
Tourism at its peak, children riding on ponies at the Mall Road, couples exploring their romanticism over a cup of brewing hot coffee, immersing in the bed of books at the Oxford Book Store, enclosed by rich Tibetan and Nepali heritage or even the innumerous chain of hotels and restaurants with its vintage serenity, you will find the beauty within.

On a couple of occasions, you ponder down your thoughts and magnify the concept of peace, an instant realization strikes down your spine when you grasp the concept of loneliness. Certainly not synonymous to a negative aspect, but a chance to be at peace. Be with yourself on this surreal journey, as you carve the memories of this venture.

Try to sit down in an isolated café facing the foothills of its neighbor and order the iconic Darjeeling tea, as you marvel the British architecture and the essence of the gushing winds. Channelize yourself with the current of the faint sun resting
between the teeny-tiny gap between the terrains. In a jiffy your thoughts would be interrupted by a kind, young waitress in her early 20s as she serves you the glorified tea of the town. As she leaves the scene, resting you and your presence aside, add a few sugar cubes, stir it gently, to and fro, and again engage your gaze on the hills and implore the embodiment of the Himalayas and manifest this moment. As you slowly lift up your cup and take your first sip, an instant rush guides you to blend with the nature as the taste reminds you of the freshly plucked tea leaves from the gardens and the amalgamation of the spices within.Move your head to the other side of the window as you sit parallel to the hills. Marvel the view. You will bluntly ignore the burning sensation on your lips caused by the tea, or even the slight stain of a brownish tint on the collar of your shirt. You will look around and in a questioning state of mind, you will snap back to reality from that dreamy state and see loads of people around you with thousands of stories and conquests, just being themselves; you would choose to ignore that and as you sit with a half full cup in your hand, you get a far-fetched feeling of bliss and joyous intent, knowing that a significant part of your life is complete despite your allegiance towards reality.
