“Where is Ishan?” Team lead Pratik asked Priya who sits next to Ishan. Priya just raised her shoulders signalling that she doesn’t know and immediately started looking at her computer screen since she was knowing the exact tantrum face of her TL.

But she was wondering too, Ishan never shows up this late and looking at Pratik’s impatient behaviour she realised that Ishan didn’t even inform him.

She thought of calling him and dialled his number. It was not reachable. She just scratched her head to remember where she was in her work and again drowned in the computer screen.

Quite after an hour, a Skype reminder popped up for some meeting and soon she realised she would definitely need Ishan in this call.

“Only he can handle this client and their non-relevant questions.”

She tried again to call but the same unreachable tune irritates her. “Where’s he is hiding man? Is he in some kinda trouble? It was not a weekend, so he shouldn’t travel to hometown. Is there any emergency? Has he lost his phone?” She came up with many possibilities in her head. She just tried to relax and convinced herself that she will drive today's call and prove herself. In the back of mind, she was still sceptical to make it and was continuously cursing Ishan who didn’t show up today.

It was before a couple of minutes to begin a call and Pratik comes to Priya’s desk.

“Any news from Ishan?” he asked in almost panicking mode.

Priya nodded as No and tried to say minimum words as it will provoke Pratik’s impatient nature. But her nodding didn’t work, instead, Pratik started counting all mistakes done by Ishan. Priya was naively listening to those while dialling her skype meeting number on phone.

Soon she landed in waiting zone of meeting as the host was yet to join the call.

Pratik kept on murmuring things, “I will raise this concern to higher management. You people do not owe any sense of responsibility. Today’s call is such an important call to collect inputs from the client and this Ishan guy just vanished without informing anyone. I mean how you people can take my time for granted, I am not going to tolerate this. This will impact his appraisal for sure.” He kept on saying and meanwhile Priya was lost in her own thoughts that how Ishan has always contributed his exceptional efforts and never showed it off. “He is passionate and charming team members but this Pratik always wants to pull his leg. And now he got a chance. Dear God, please save Ishan.” Unknowingly she almost closed her eyes while thinking this. And suddenly a beep of joining someone from other end broke the monotony of Pratik’s blabbering. “Hi everyone, this is John.”

Priya unmuted her phone to say Hi in reply but her voice got overlapped with someone. It was like “Hi John, very good morning. Ishan from offshore.” Priya got surprised but in a pleasant way. After all, she got her back now to answer all the questions.

Pratik was staring at the phone like he will enter into the receiver and ask Ishan “How you dare to come office man? I was so in a mood to spoil your appraisal. “ but he left the place quietly like he lost the sure-shot winning match.

Priya hastily pinged to Ishan on Skype realising that he was just in ‘Away’ status not in ‘Offline.

“Dude, where are you? How come you join the call?”

Ishan sent laughing emoticon first and then replied “I have come up before everyone in the office and since my PC was not working I moved to the outside meeting room. I am working from here. Why? Any problem?”

Priya chuckled and typed “Yes, there’s a problem but not for you.”
