As the sun set
The party turned over a notch.
But all she noticed was
How the sky was getting painted
With the passing second.
With the wind ruffling through the leaves
And the sky turning various blues
Her nerves were calmed.
Clothes ruffled
She stared into the distant lights
With hazy eyes, an unspoken dream she saw.
Shot after shot came the vodka
Leaving a burning trail in its wake.
Memories long forgotten
Now boiled at the surface.
With a shudder down her spine
The brave heart realised that
It was going be a long night.
With the doors to the past wide open
And the key long lost.
