In a land with a constitution which preaches equality
Where a girls “conduct” against set social norms does not bring a tag of “lack of purity”
Yes I want freedom from these illogical beliefs which tie us down with rules abound!
A world with schools and institutions that provide us the true ”vision” of education
Yet here we are suffering burns in culinary and factory work at ages so juvenile
Even after activist voices of persuasion
Yes I want freedom to study, enough to grow and make my family overcome economic drudgery!
A world of Unity in Diversity is where we reside
Yet a poor ragged old lady is someone we fail to stand beside
Yes I want freedom from the injustice of economy, for all humans to live in harmony!
A land of female warriors whose valour marks our history
The obsolete condition of women in most homes and other sectors forever remains a mystery
Yes I want freedom from the bruises unspoken,
For someone to travel the lanes of their eyes unspoken!
A land with Equality at workplace is a dream we see
Sheer humiliation from superiors is what we meet
Yes I want freedom from this harassment, for such goons to face similar embarrassment!
A land where auspicious ceremony is what we call a wedding
Marrying off a girl so young, no one repents her education and childhood sacrificing
Yes I want freedom from the bondage of child marriage,
An open window from the weight of dowry holding carriage!
Enlisting our vision of true freedom
Has brought a change only seldom
Working towards it is the need of the hour
For in this need is the true happiness of ours
