When pain is a bitch,

When fingers tingle and the staples shoot a pain in my arm,

When all I have for distraction in the middle of the night are...

A sappy story on my kindle,

An old forward on my WhatsApp group,

I wonder - Are you ready to be my friend?

I have been prodded and pricked,

I lay beneath the harsh lights,

I left myself bare.

I heard the verdict in despair,

I was willing to wake up from the nightmare.

Why me? That is no more my question.

Are you with me ?... That's what I ask.

I am gonna laugh little louder,

Cry until I am heard.

I am gonna sink into gloom

And live it my way.

Will you know when to hug me?

Or kickass when I want to give up?

When I lose hope and seek darkness -

Will you be my light, my strength?

A heartbeat is all it takes,

Life can go topsy-turvy.

I am like Alice in the rabbit hole,

Only that this fall doesn't seem to end.
