Who Am I?
Who Am I?
I felt a white light one day
Illuminating me from inside,
Confused I wondered what it was
As it continued to grow like a rising tide.
"O White One, what are you?", I asked
Silently it smiled, as in its warmth,
I curiously basked.
My curiosity grew, I had to know
"Pray tell me in words, for I am just a simple Joe."
The light remained silent as it filled my being
And transferred all its energy into me.
A strange feeling pervaded my heart,
I suddenly realised what I had known right from the start.
It was me, I was the light
I was the day and I was the night.
I was the worshipper, I was the worshipped
I was the destitute and I was the equipped.
I was old age, I was youth
The universe was me and I was the Truth.
The thing which had kept me awake was this,
Everything I had wanted to know had been been explained simply by the white light's kiss.
I had found contentment where I least expected it to be,
My soul felt light, as if it had suddenly been set free.
'I am nothing; God is everything', I had felt all along,
How right i had been and yet i was wrong.
I always feared death, and life too
O Creator, I know no fear now, for I am You.
