What Does Lockdown Mean For Me
What Does Lockdown Mean For Me
What does lockdown mean for me?
I'm socially distanced,
Emotionally challenged,
Financially managed,
Institutionalized & bored,
Conversationally deluded,
Talking to myself more,
Isolation compliant,
But socially frustrated!
I'm housebound anyway.
People think I'm always free,
I can’t think, can’t breathe.
The virus hasn’t touched me,
But the impacts surround me,
Brokedown several times,
I couldn't find my own identity,
Searching for myself, felt like a crime!
I sit on the sofa, watching TV,
Counting the cases and how many died,
A cup in my hand and eating my burger,
The news yet again has only one theme,
So I look at my phone for a cheerful meme!
At first, people thought it would stay in China,
But it soon spread all the over the world,
And governments stopped all sports and the games,
The schools were closed and the theatres were too,
Cinemas, bars, and the malls had to rue,
The trade that was lost, the shares that were down,
Caused by the virus with the terrible crown!
Life is now different, we’re all stuck inside,
We’ve stocked up the freezer and store cupboards too,
But I am privileged,
I can still work,
Be safe in a bubble of my home,
The others deliver food and groceries,
And are on the frontlines.
