Trigger Warning

Trigger Warning

When my heart broke I hoped

That my body would break down too.

For all I looked for, were signs that dismissed the voices,

"You are a fool.

A fool who takes too much space."

"You are too young and too naive"

"You are incapable,

You are insignificant,

you are unnecessary."

I heard the synthetic confession of love,

I saw the victory join your riled up eyes as I gradually coiled back into my shell,

I smelt the room fill with thick pungent smoke of your power and my desire to be loved,

But I waited,

I waited for my skin to report it,

To show,

To know,

To prick the bubble of my trust,

And to start picking up the pieces.
