The River Of Life
The River Of Life
Life is a splendid river,
Occasionally a little sliver.
Sometimes meandering benignly,
Other times tripping softly and joyfully.
Discontent with boredom and simplicity,
We expand our life’s productivity.
Our life gets big and grand,
But the power of our wants we cannot withstand.
When relentless desire and hunger overwhelm,
Greed holds our life’s helm.
The waters of unhappiness slowly bubble and seethe,
The storm rises steadily from beneath!
Stress and anxiety,
Cause unyielding calamity.
Soon the banks are breached,
Tether’s end is reached!
The river of life rapidly surges on,
We gasp for breath against the ferocious current thereon.
The meandering and tripping are in the past,
Now we are desperate to regain the simplicity we lost!
