The Divide

That side seemed so far away

How far – they could not say

Was it greener over there?

It seemed so barren everywhere!

There were no people, no trees, no life

No sign of there being any kind of strife,

Then why did it seem so very dark?

Like there’s no light, like there’s no spark?

The other side looked the same as this,

There was no difference, nothing to miss,

Then why did it feel so lonely here?

Like everyone’s gone over there?

The side that is seen over there

How far – no one seems to care

They wish it was dark, they wish it was bare,

The darker it was, the better they were.
