The Broken God
The Broken God
Shattered pieces of stones and clay,
Strewn across the courtyard;
Sky high lofts reduced to the ground,
Blazed and burned, the beliefs of men,
Fate and Faith collapsed to dust.
Hurt beasts and thus the deadliest,
And their blood curdling cries,
Wrenched the air,ears, heart and mind
With vengeance and despise.
And thus they went on,
High spirited men,
To seek victory,
To protect their Gods.
And like a travel back in time,
Though now in a different space,
Where the hunter has become the hunted,
And villainy has a different face;
Were retold the tales of blood and gore,
Of ruin, carnage and decay,
Of lives lost and lost loves,
Of pain and dismay.
And looking down at the savage masses,
Scavenging as civilization breathed it's last,
Defeated, sighed the broken God.
