Smoky Fumes

Smoky Fumes

Do you see it coming

The smoke that bellows out of nowhere and chokes you

Time stops in agony as you panic to escape its shroud

Alas! in vain do you try to evade it for it has already

Locked its horns with the fresh air which was lazily floating around.

All senses alert now - eyes its tears, lungs its coughs

Yet little do they realize amidst all the flurry to block

This wicked enemy, the poison has found its resting place.

Though you wish in vain that this tobacco finds another

Haven, you cannot give it wings and make it fly far away from you

For humans reign over tobacco and there is no even more polite word to say

'Dear brother sister of mine, thou destroyeth me every time you exhale, your breath do I inhale.

For no wrong that I do, you kill me with tobacco and die inch by inch yourself.

We can never be de-addicted to your addiction

Strive forth and denounce this deadly parasite

That sucks and leeches your life

Air cannot be bought; for it occupies all of space from whence earth evolved.

Air is shared and free; but do not take it for granted

The coins you shell out for tobacco can never earn you the right of polluting air

The toxins you let out can puff out the vibrant lives around you

They earnestly plead with their souls that you heed and respect the life in you and around you

Air is life and tobacco is death - they can never go hand in hand!!

The satisfaction you gain in your puff is lost in the

Dejection of a sick man who turns to his inhaler puffs because of you.

Smoking zones can never contain the toxins you release -

They would have gradually found its way into your neighbour's blood stream
