Seasons
Seasons
We were ten,
And our friendship felt like a summer day
A tender understanding
Dreamy and youthful in every way.
Like the early rays of the sun,
Our relationship was a warm embrace
Running in parallels far and wide
But moving at a constant pace.
We were eighteen,
And our friendship felt like autumn
Changing colours with changing time
Yet the simple days aren’t forgotten.
All the flowers are gone,
Now they the grace floor,
But there’s still a beauty to it,
Just different from before.
We grew older,
And our friendship felt like winter
Cold and distant,
Far from what we initially were.
There’s a maturity to this season though
In drawing heat from the light,
Sticking together through every phase,
Staying strong through every fight.
There’s a reason why friendship
Is the most sacred relation,
It’s a life long bond created
Keeps us close despite the separation.
Every time we meet,
Suddenly we’re ten
Nothing has changed,
And it’s summer all over again.
