Role Reversal
Role Reversal
It was an unforgettable night,
When the blacks were being served by a white .
The road was almost deserted,
Except for a few
Who enjoyed the view,
And amongst whom the news was being circulated!
In contrast to the darkness of the night
An open space was all bright and yellow,
Lost dignities were being regained here
And the souls seemed quite mellow!
Up above, the sky was lit with stars
It was time for a change,
A time, to forget the scars!
It was time to treat everyone the same
For playing with someone’s life is not a game.
In the silence of the night
Their heart was screaming 'Freedom',
'Freedom' from the shackles of slavery
A task which they tackled so bravely!
They waited so long
For light to enter their lives,
How painful it must have been
When they were separated from their wives!
Tears rolled down their cheeks,
Remembering the horrendous memories of the past.
Contented were they now,
As their prayers were heard at last!
Unable to find a solution
They once treaded the path to delusion,
Freedom was all that they wanted to buy
The hard times had taken away,
Their ability to cry!
They lived with a hope
That all their sufferings will come to an end,
The task was not easy
As their masters shall have to bend!
At last, the long awaited day arrived
To compensate for all the joys deprived
Only the roles were reversed,
For the colours were still Black and White!
