Reading Books
Reading Books
My favorite hobby is reading you know,
And to get new books I’m pleading for more.
I ask for a new book every day,
But mom says “No dear, Only during the holidays.”
I ask my dad “Can I have a book?”
He turns to mom and she gives him a look.
I really want one, so what do I do?
I ask my grandparents to get one too.
In the evening when I go to play,
My friend and I sneak away
He too is a good read as I,
We escape in the wink of an eye
We go to his house and I take a look,
And then I ask him “May I borrow a book?”
He says “You may. It’s wonderful I must say.
If you promise to return it the very next day.”
Then he comes over to take one in exchange,
He is stunned on seeing my wide range.
We go down again, without a fuss,
The secret of books is just between us.
So weeks pass by, month after month,
Exams are over, holidays have begun.
Mom and dad call me to see,
The books that they should order for me.
To their surprise, most of them I have read,
I had been reading before going to bed.
The results were out and I had done well,
So dad promised a book instead.
Now every now and then I get a new one,
After all my work is done.
Oh! What fun it is to read,
Geronimo Stilton and Harry Potter indeed
With books, I travel to fantasy lands,
Over hills, plains, deserts, and sands
Books are my best friends you know,
And I’m always wanting more and more!
