Piggy Bank
Piggy Bank
The messy cupboard was opened
To get a dusting.
Spic and span look after years together.
From a dark corner still smiling piggy bank
Greeted me with gone by memories.
The gift from my mom on my birthday
Said “Saving money is the key”.
Now I find it’s always worked for me.
The empty space was filled slowly
Day after day with the clinging sound of the coins.
It seemed like music to my years
When I shook it to make a guess
How much did I fill it with?
Until it stopped making music
Said ‘’I am no more empty.”
That day I sighed, kept it in a corner
And forgot.
There could be no better time to empty it
As it surprised me,
My expectation took a beat.
Happiest me handed it over for food donation
To feed the migrant labourers a small meal.
A joy, I had kept deposited for a while.
Now I understand the value of small saving even more
The piggy bank has to be my companion forever.
