Night Flight
Night Flight

With a begrudging roar,
We plummet against the wind.
Tearing against the invisible safety net,
Into forbidden space.
City lights line up below,
As though lamps in temples,
A cathedral at holy mass,
A secret worship of land for the sky.
And with each layer of thinner air,
The night sets in,
Creeping around us,
Until its presence,
Is the only truth
And its dominance clear.
I guess there is only so much to me:
I am in a metal tube,
Drifting in the dark,
Feeling lost,
In the realm of stars.
