My Son

My Son

I Stood at the window and stared,
Wondering if you cared.
It’s been years since we met,
And you’re simply impossible to forget.

Something has come between us,
Creating a void within us.
You may start hating a lot,
Fear grips my heart at the thought.

For depriving you of the love you sought,
And to give you this I fought.
But fate stuck with vengeance,
And meekly I heard the sentence.

Tears welled up in my eyes,
As I heard your good-byes.
The memories that you gave,
I treasure to my grave.

I wonder how you are faring,
As I keep standing and staring.
All I ask of you, my son, feel my sorrow and pain
And return to me once again.
