My Mirror, My Anchor
My Mirror, My Anchor

Whenever I look myself in my mirror,
I see a new person like an anchor
Who adores me or admonishes me,
Jeers at me or cheers at me,
Veers at me or peers at me,
Smiles at me or riles at me,
Torments me or commends me.
I sail in the sea on my small sail
To buy and sell pearls in oysters shells.
I rise and fall and rush again to live
To hold a handful of nectar in the sieve.
My mirror shows me all horizons
All seasons and all reasons.
I make my vision's expansions
Linking my moments to my actions
And pass through therapeutic convulsions
Before I make bold conclusions.
My mirror has no contentment
Till it completes its commitment
Of speaking the truth in all its averment.
My mirror is a true rapporteur
To write my report card with accurate care
Whether it is life-cycle from birth to death
Or life's bi-cycle wheeling out for breath.
My mirror is a miracle of truth pinnacle.
My mirror, my anchor, my peerless pal.
