Mirror
Mirror
The girl stared into me
From her position on
The bathroom floor.
I stared back.
She hugged her knees tightly
Her hair was stuck to her teary face
She looked at the knife
On the bathroom floor.
I looked at it too.
"Ugh!" she said suddenly,
And threw her hairbrush at me.
I cracked into a million pieces,
And the shards fell
Onto the bathroom floor.
But I could still see her.
"I'm going to end my ugliness!"
She said. She picked up the knife,
Pricked her finger.
A single drop of blood
Dripped onto the bathroom floor.
I could do nothing.
I was just a mirror after all,
Broken, just like her.
I could not show her
How beautiful she was,
Because I could not reflect her soul.
The knife cut deep into her wrist,
Blood spurted onto the clothes she wore,
She fell down in a pool of red,
Onto the bathroom floor.
Here's a thought:
The things that you say
May leave scars that don't fade away
How about tasting your words
Before you spit them out?
