Mirage

Mirage

Hand in hand,
We walked to the shore.
Leaving traces on sand,
We desired for even more.
My blue chiffon dupatta
Flew to break ocean's nap.
How quickly you ran
And got it to my lap!

Today,
After a ho-hum decade
When I desire,
To recall those moments,
I open an old wooden box,
To find
That blue chiffon dupatta
A witness of our bond,
Smiling at me,
Winking like you.
I take it out
Flaunt it on my bosom
It still carries the fragrance
Of ocean, of you, of our love...
I close my eyes
Yes, for once more
I cherish
To be lost in the mirage.
