Memories Close To My Heart, Me
Memories Close To My Heart, Me
On that cold December night,
I lay on my bed, weeping;
The agonizing pain in the legs,
Was more than what a 5 year old could take in.
This is how I will have to spend the night,
I thought, struggling with my aching feet;
Although I tried to sleep with all my might,
That tough endeavor I couldn't complete.
Suddenly my foot was touched by a soothing hand,
'Don't worry my princess' he said, rubbing in a pain balm;
'I will take away the pain with my magic wand',
'And then you will sleep' he said, 'so be calm'.
Slowly the ache was gone,
And I fell asleep on his chest;
His strong hands around me was thrown,
The dreams that day were the best.
In the morning he was there,
To wake me up with a lovely smile;
'Is the pain gone?' he asked, fondling my hair,
'It is gone Daddy' I said, 'now that you are here!'
I wish I had realized then
That you being with me wouldn't be forever;
But of all the things you left for me,
I treasure one the most, your memories.
Memories close to my heart,
Memories which I can never part.
