Wide awake in a pre-dawn hour

Had coffee, a cigarette, and a shower

Sitting now, as the minutes pass

Another cup to kick me in the ass

Shorty the house will come alive

A busy day until a little passed nine

Then back home where I can be

Content with the wife, the kids, and me

It’s all I need

Love and a little TV.

I go to work and pay the bills

But somehow, they keep coming still

Don’t know how I got so far behind

Seems that I work just to work

But evening comes and it’s getting late

Have yet to put the dishes away
