Lost Bag

I search under the table

On the couch, near the stairs,

In-room 5101.

A friend calls-

"come let's go.

What are you searching for?"

A lump in my throat.

For once

I couldn't speak.

Water fills my eyes

And rolls down

My cheeks.

I stare at my friends

Who are now a blur?

"i...I Lost my bag."

I stammer.

"How will you do the homework?"

I hear a sudden click

In my mind.

My frown

Changes to a smile,

As something inside me whispers-

"no homework!"
