I asked her why she lacked a burning ambition,
She said to me, "So that people don't judge me by just that."
"Surely a little ambition can be satisfying to you!" I cried.
"Not if you have had your illusions torn down," she replied.

I asked her why she was so passive at times,
She said to me, "Not everyone appreciates our meaning."
"Isn't it better to make your voice heard?" I protested.
"Not when the people around you are so biased," she replied.

I asked her why she looked so blue and alone,
She said to me, "One cannot face the world every day."
"But you are surrounded by people who care!" I exclaimed.
"That does not matter when you can't help yourself," she said.

I said, "You sound so gloomy and you've dampened my mood,
I'd love to talk again but now it's time for you to go."
She said, "I'm sorry if I've burst your bubble, but I'm not going anywhere.
I'm the face you see staring back at you from the mirror every day."
