Internal War

He slowly woke up,

To the sounds of grenades,

Somewhere very near to his house,

Streets were filled with the mob,

Running frantically trying to escape,

The manhunt by the police,

The attacks by the rivals,

He was too small to understand,

He saw huts engulfed in flames,

That was in a bizarre,

Few kids smaller than him,

Were alone in the streets,

It was his village,

In the interior of India,

Where people remained segmented,

It was in an independent country,

They all remained partitioned,

With barriers, they created on their own.
