If I Could Listen To My Heart

Sometimes I feel why is it so

That to our desires there is always a firm no

The way our wishes are suppressed

I think are similar to the way the poor are oppressed

Those wishes which can give us our first flight

And bring into our lives a ray of light

The society is such that our wings get cut

And we get an accelerator in the way of transcending our usual hut

But what to do this is perhaps our fate

For living peacefully, this is perhaps a set rate

I would have definitely by now given my desires a start

Only if I could listen to my heart
