I Am The Earth

I am the earth, I am the earth;

Here is the place you all have taken birth,

I am around a billion years old;

But remember I am extremely precious, ten times more than gold,

Long, long ago there lived a stone-age man;

Even though there was no electricity or technology I was his complete fan.

He grew up slowly to have no tail,

He did so many experiments, and some he did fail.

He did not lose hope and did many more;

And gradually made inventions like one, two, three, four.

Later this good man turned into my worst nightmare;

He became the most selfish and lesser and lesser he did for me care.

For making tall buildings, he uprooted all my trees;

This stopped the blowing of my cool airy breeze.

He dumped and spoiled me by the usage of plastic;

I never thought this would happen to me, this news of completely drastic.

He cut holes in the mountains for making tunnels;

I feel like removing the good man from the cruel man by a funnel.

On me there are mountains, valleys and a cool lake,

But because of the heat produced by deeds, I feel like you have put me in an oven to bake.

I am the planet which provides you with clothes, water and food,

But nowadays you are extracting too much from me and hence being rude.

I miss the man that once loved me to my core,

But from today’s man I cannot expect anything much more.

I hope I can live long enough to see this good man’s side again;

My love for the people living on me never will go in vain.
