Holi with a Grecian Twist

Holi with a Grecian Twist

Once upon a time, aeons ago, there lived gods and goddesses on the Earth. Lesser mortals had not yet roamed the streets of the world. It was pretty boring. Everything looked dull and grey as colours had not yet been invented The world existed only in shades of white and grey, can you imagine?

To please themselves, the Godfolk (like menfolk) decided to create men and women. Their antics, histrionics added a lot of drama and spice to life, the only problem was that it was not the correct spice!

However something was better than nothing and the dreariness of life continued. One day, a beautiful goddess was strolling through the gardens of Earth, trying to amuse and entertain herself. when she saw two children, babbling and talking nonstop, while digging the Earth for planting their flowerbeds.

Suddenly, the children found a triangular piece of glass embedded in the mud. They were not able to remove it all and shyly looked at the goddess for help. As soon as the goddess held the triangular glass to the sun, it broke out in a myriad of colours. The flowers turned into different hues of colours, the sky turned blue, the grass turned green and everything had a beautiful tone to it. Suddenly, life looked very interesting.

In every age, in every country colours are celebrated. . . and can we be left behind? Thus, we celebrate Holi to celebrate the colours in our life, as they give everything a unique beauty and a life of its own!
