Happy Birthday Satyajit Ray

1921 2nd May,

Was a totally special day,

It was the day

When a little boy called Satyajit

Was born to Suprabha and Sukumar Ray,

Satyajit Ray was an acclaimed Indian author,

Who started off as a director in movies,

The first Indian to be awarded an Oscar,

Thus he is famous worldwide and not just in our country

Presidency college and Visva Bharati university were his alma-maters,

Par excellence -An illustrator

Was honoured with the highest civilian award

The Bharat Ratna

Some of his famous creations are Feluda the sleuth

And Lal Mohan Ganguli the novelist

His villains were evil and malicious

Like Magan lal Meghraj -Feluda’s arch-nemesis is pernicious

But amongst the lesser-known characters

Is Profesor Shonku the Scientist,

Satyajit Ray inspires us all to dream

He inspires us to soar

He will always be a star shining brightly

Even after a CENTURY !!
