Happiness Blooms Through the Gloom
Happiness Blooms Through the Gloom
Happiness doesn’t come knocking at the door,
Happiness is something you work for.
Happiness is what makes you smile,
The one of many things you wake up for.
Happiness is…
The persistent ringing of the dreaded alarm clock.
Through our dreams and fantasies with sharp chimes
Yet, giving us a new meaning and purpose in life
A semblance of normalcy in COVID times
Happiness is…
Our schools that opened new virtual vistas
When doors were forced shut by the incessant lock-downs
Teachers zooming into our homes from theirs with desperate smiles,
Hiding their troubles and fears behind beautiful virtual backgrounds
Happiness is...
Entering a meeting before the teacher logged in
Chatting with friends and sharing virtual grins
Watching a DIY video on another screen
Videos off while wiping the breakfast plate clean
Happiness is…
Our teachers, our beacons, our rays of hope
Making us work, stretch, paint, sing, and dance.
When the Idiot Box was babbling viral numbers
You helped us cope with all that trance!
Happiness is….
The warm waft of cookies and fresh bakes
Skills we got a chance to try our hands on
The family fun chatter that gave us new bonds
As those busy rushed times were now gone
Happiness isn’t all about laughing,
It’s making others laugh too.
Happiness is a strange thing,
It can make the saddest ones sing.
Yes, it is a great thing,
It doesn’t heed slave or king.
So, spread happiness all around,
spread it my friends don’t be greedy,
Spread it to both the rich and needy,
Because you can never have enough
Of happiness, laughter, peace, and love.
