Even Another Jalianwalabagh

Even Another Jalianwalabagh

Sweet melodies emerging from far,

It was their country called Bharatpur.

To get water mighty Monarch dug a big lake,

Birds of the world thronged there to live and tweet.

Coo, screams, honk, cackle, and clang;

Floating in the air making it sung.

The welcome note unknown to us always reverberates;

A gruff voice, too, sings smelling in the air fragrance.

Kingfisher, cockatoo, cuckoo, robin gather to sing every day;

Pelican, stork bird, snake bird join them to enjoy and play.

Busy cormorant sinks there hundreds,

Catching fish she blushes and sings.

The sound of munching of green grass permeates the air;

Look there twinkle the restless blushful spotted deer.

In such a world there came bullets and gunpowder;

Civilized British came to give the proof of power.

Sir Lord Linlithgo shouted war cry with a gun and laugh,

 Bullets pierced the body of thousand four and a half.

Birdman shed tears ceaseless,

Another Jalianwalabagh happens.

Rushed Salim Ali, the God of birds,

Pleaded British with folded hands.

Birds too got their constitution with independence;

Keoladeo National Park is the name of their home.
