Eli's Adventure
Eli's Adventure
She held on tight to her Mother's tail
Being watched by humans on a trail
They'd point a funny looking thing at them
And call them many queer names.
Elie, the little elephant, she
was as restless as the sea
She wanted to know how the nectar tasted
How long is a day? How small is a bee?
Alas she had been told since long
Exploring by herself was extremely wrong
She's too small to know, too lil', too low
To face what's out there, all on her own.
Yet one day, as sudden as a snake
she let go of her mother's trustful tail
And like a war-hero to the lake
She marched with all her might and main.
And as her dauntless feet felt
The cold and soft and wet mud
It made her curious heart melt
Such relief, a blissful battle.
She drank the water from the lake
Breathing the air, full of satisfaction
She thought what next was to be done
Which mountain to climb? Which sea to cross?
The trees, they waved an early adieu
The leaves, they shivered and shuffled
The monkeys cried, a mournful goodbye
And Hell and Hades were wide awake.
Into the flesh of innocence,
went the pawn of death
And life that once breathed youth
Stopped and stopped and....
