Cricket
Cricket
When I was young they told me well,
That cricket is just a game
You play it good you play it right,
You'll get the money the fame
With a tiny bat I looked at the sky
And pretended to be a hero
m\My father said "O dear son but never score a zero"
I played the game got bruised got hurt
But it never seemed enough
When teary eyed I asked myself
"Why is this game so tough?"
Years passed, I played as asked
But never like the greats
They laughed at me with ugly names,
My brothers, my teammates
More years passed and tears stopped
I knew I had no luck
The cover drives the hooks and pulls
Were never well struck
Now I am old and I am big
And hardly fit in a chair
And through sleepless nights I cry out loud
That life is so unfair
My son picks up a tiny bat
And practices a stylish flick
I remember the day when I was his age
And used the same stick
I smile at once and know for sure he'll be the next hero
Then I tell him "O my great son but never score a zero."
