Can We?

When a man has a right to marry four women, we say it’s our culture

When a teen-aged girl is married to an elderly man, we say it’s our culture

When a young boy leaves his education and works to earn for his family’s livelihood, we say it’s our culture

When a woman becomes a widow, she is treated like a slave, and we say it’s our culture

When a woman starts menstruating, she is treated like an untouchable, and we say it’s our culture

When a girl is deprived of her education to do the household work, we say it’s our culture

Not only in rural villages but even in urban India we follow these practices in the name of culture, customs, rituals, traditions, and norms.

Can we start building, believing, implementing and living a culture………………

Where no human being loses his/her dignity in society

Where no human being is deprived of basic rights

Where every human being is respected irrespective of gender, caste, and religion

Where every human being is humble to each other

And thus we all practice the religion and culture of ‘Humanity’
