Boo The Taboo
Boo The Taboo
What gives you the right to look at me
And dictate the size that I should be
You have no inkling of my journey
Maybe this is the place where I'd rather be
What gives you the right to say it to my face
That I may be one of society's biggest disgrace
I am more than just a full body
I am more heart and soul than you will ever be
What gives you the right to think I haven't tried
To confine to beauty and health standards that you decide
Now I wear my breasts, love handles and thighs with pride
This time I do not wish for my curves to hide
What gives you the right of anything we do to despise
My decision to flaunt it whatever the size
Look beyond this warrior's body shape
What you don't see is my invisible cape
What gives you the right to shake your head in disdain
Concluding that women like me are all so vain
You see, I am so much more than the plus-size lady
I'm a doctor, an artist, I'm a singer baby
What gives you the right to body shame
We have struggled with fear and guilt and far too much pain
But right now we are absolutely unapologetic
Coz there is so much more to us that makes us tick.
What gives you the right to stop us from achieving
Our lives to reinvent, our goals from reaching
We don't care for fat or thin
Coz we boo the taboo! We are happy in our own skin!
