Back-bencher

Back-bencher

As I peeped shyly into my class,

With new people all around.

Naughtiest of all students!

Crossed me as I stepped around.

Full of students was that class,

As I saw it for the first.

Gossiping, chatting, whispering was all I heard,

No place to sit - was all I feared.

Then I noticed an empty bench,

At the remote end of the class.

Then it became my favorite place,

With every hour that passed.

As the bell rang for the period,

I rushed back to the room.

Chit-chat, eating & working,

As it always helped me do.

I'm proud to be a back-bencher,

As I write about it today.

Be it Physics, Chemistry, Math or Bio,

It'd be my favorite bench always!
