Like planes

caught in turbulence,

Like an ambulance

stuck in traffic,

Like tangled earphones

in the pockets

of my jeans

spinning in the washer.

My anxiety

Like a distressed bird

chirping

at midnight,

Like nails against

glass,

My depression
