The scent lingers,
Reminiscing good times;
The past stopped haunting,
The ghost of old memories
Left and forgotten.
The present shone like a beacon,
Happiness was almost deliberate,
But the Future looked bleak;
Lurking like a dark shadow,
Eerily quiet and cold,
That's probably the right feeling.
For if the Future was certain
Like the rising of the sun
Or the falling of the rain,
We'd rightfully take a stand
Not a thing to worry,
Or be trapped in a gaze that's blurry;
But it all can't be that easy,
This is Life!
Most things are as uncertain as the weather;
And once again I bask in temporary glory,
If anything, Life is still lives but not guaranteed;
Contrary to the passage of time.
