An Old Soul
An Old Soul
Your words hum in my ears
I look up and see your eyes
Twinkling with gumption
You said “that is how it works”
I said, “I did not know.”
The world has no clue
Things that you reflect on
It could be over a tea
Or sitting right next to the sea
Mirroring your thoughts undoubtedly
The pearls are put on display
Only when you feel an innate desire
To guide or be compassionate
Towards the naïve mankind
Not wise enough to feel and learn
I know sometimes
You worry about others worthiness
Your motive being misjudged
But what I cannot fathom
Is your childlike Enthusiasm
For deep insights and weariness
Overwhelming it may feel
To individuals living superficially
But only who seek gypsy at heart
Would know how lonely it gets
For you who look inside and awareness sets
You find yourself way matured
In existence, you simply feel old
But young enough to be absorbed
An outlook towards life
Unlike those around you who only strife
