Adrenaline Rush

Lights in every corner,

A floor to ceiling mirror,

A grim-faced choreographer,

Then the knob turned a full round.

The sound blast through the speakers,

Adrenaline pumped through in sync,

Legs moved to pair the rhythm,

Sweat dripped with every blink.

Limbs screamed in agony,

Lungs bellowed for air,

Body fought to keep the fluids,

But adrenaline went on, determined.

Fight, flight or fright he asked,

Fight, I said without a qualm,

Then a grin replaced my frown,

Wavering thoughts, resolved to calm.

Why fight? He questioned me,

The answer, I replied, shall soon present,

We waited together on the platform,

Him still pumping with no relent.

We ascended slowly, onto the stage,

With the cold air, hitting my face,

The screams and shouts of thousands,

Shrilly plucking at my heart strings.

They sang along with every verse,

Chanted my name, till throats went hoarse,

Cheering all my steps with zeal,

Shedding tears when it was time to leave.

Then the lights went out, one by one,

Withdrawal symptoms eating me up,

Have you got your answer now, friend?

I didn't need a reply to know,

It was a yes.
