A Thread Of Care

A Thread Of Care

The love I share with my brother has its unique way

Walls of our home echo our bond, my mother says

At times, the meals are tucked in with love and laughter

At times, he brawls with me and lectured by my father

He gets irked if I disturb his special belongings

A tendency he has, to annoy me and fling my things

A heavenly day comes in the mid monsoon of the year

I tie a thread of care on his wrist and he calls me dear

I apply a red mark on his bare forehead

His mark spills and makes his nose red

He teases me that he forgot to bring my gift

He lies with a firm voice that I begin to credit it

I shut my eyelids and fake a drop of tear rolling down from my eyes

He embraces me and utters with a loving voice, "I am sorry, it was a lie"

I wipe the bead of tear I was feigned to shed

He chuckles and says "stop it now don't pretend"

I shovel into his mouth handful of yummy sweets

We sit together, eat and share a splendid feast

He hugs me and says you are my love, my sister

I hug him back, saying you are my annoying brother
