       A RAINY FAMILY NIGHT

It is raining cats and dogs 

Frogs are croaking 

in the court yard passionately for mates

Dogs have stopped

their barking

Cattles are chewing

the cuds in their shed

Students are returning

home putting on rain coats

Granny is chewing spiced betel and

telling ghost stories

to her grand kids

Daughter in law is

making tea in the 

kitchen

Grandpa taking tea

with noisy sips

Tuning AIR Cuttack

Cat is mewing under

the table

Doggy is taking rest on

the cozy sofa

Power is cut off for the

thunder bolt

Granny lights the lantern and candle 

in the dining room

Grand pa is sitting

on the Arm Chair

waiting for his dinner

with family decorum

to take the supper at

last

Youngsters first and headmen are last taker

Rain water gusts down

from the roof gutters 

Grandpa sings devotional songs

opening his toothless mouth

Granny enjoys song

attentively

She offers buiscuts to

Doggy

Mommy starts serving

supper dishes on the

table

We all started our supper intake which is

delicious and tasty

Papa exalts mom

We end up our consumption

Mom serves each a cup of milk and a Rasgulla

All of us belched with

satisfaction

Finally grandparents and mom enjoyed their

Supper

Kitten starts to play with the flying termites revolving around the lantern

Papa lit a churut and puffed 

After a awesome roaring of thunderbolt

Power was restored

Raining stopped

Bulbs began to light

We breathed out a gesture of self content

Bowing our heads with folded palms in front of oil paint of Lord Jagannathji 

entered into our bedrooms shutting down the doors

Only faint noises of crickets and frogs were  coming to our ears

through the gaps of the window sill 

transmitted from home side garden.

Then we were deeply embraced by Pasithea and Hypnos.
