A Glimpse of Tomorrow
A Glimpse of Tomorrow
Every breath I spend
Encaged within the four walls of my house
I envision the lands I have never seen
Summoning me from afar.
Lands glistening with ancient earth
Dust spilled from the wings of antiquity,
As it flutters over lands and seas
Recounting tales of love and desire.
The yellowed pages of history turn smoothly one by one
Reawaken misadventures and tales of fallen soldiers
The drafts of wind carry every little murmur
And every piece of Homer's soul.
The realms that beckon to me
With little fireflies flickering
When the time is right, after the golden rays of the sun
Cease to irradiate the heavens.
The skyscrapers brush against the clouds
And greet the stars as they arise in the prime hour of twilight.
And it permeates me with the powerful craving
To bring home a star with me.
The interminable domains filled with roughness and rusticity
Yet determined in its grandeur
Whither the lion takes his rightful place
As the unchallenged ruler of creation.
We are transported a few steps back into a world
Of tranquility and resilience,
Free of selfishness and demand
And in Elysium, as we truly belong.
The places with an ever-lasting Christmas
Embracing merriment and revelry in every layer
Milk sprinkling down from above
Pure and white like heaven's call.
As it descends upon the stony ground
Like glaze on a cake
I stand back and marvel
Poised to take the first nibble
Of assured delight and an allayed thirst.
Where the day-star beats down upon us,
Its rays bless every inch of our soul
Kindling affection and admiration in every step.
The laughs of people ever so apparent on their faces
Filled with the prospect of a better tomorrow
What better resolution could you find?
Than to walk through hell with a smile.
Every obstacle insures chance
So they embrace it with open arms.
And as I leave the lands of brilliance and depth
I am not ready to part.
And then a swift movement provokes me to jolt back into substance.
Far, far away from the ideal world, I'd experienced.
Because now, afflicted with disease, and shackled with limitations
The World is no longer the home I recognized.
Those rocks scream my name from afar
Yet I coldly look away
And all I can wish for is that
I'd accede to its call someday.
And eventually, I'd be back at my rightful home, the vast wide world,
And beam, the fetters on my wrists broken.
I would glide through the deepest ocean and surmount the highest peak
And rustle to the winds to pass it on
'Come join me
And you will see
What life is really meant to be.'
Trust me, there isn't really a train I wouldn't catch, no matter where it's directed,
As it expedites towards a promising tomorrow.
