UNIFICATION OF INDIA

What do we recall when we hear unification of India we recall some of the prominent names like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and the hidden hero Sir V.P Menon

If we talk about Rao Bahadur Vappala Pangunni Menon a CSI,CIE He was born on 30 September 1893 in (present day Kerala)He was a main minister under Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was a constitutional advisor and political reforms commissioner to Viceroy of India.

We sadly lost him on 31 December 1965 in Cooke town, Bengaluru at the age of 72 ...

He played a Key role in unification of India

Let's date back to 1940's. It was a time when India was mainly divided into 3 parts one was under the British rule, Muslim demand, Native Indian places...

The Native Indian places included Jammu Kashmir and Jodhpur

If we talk about Jammu and Kashmir it played a vital role geographically as it divided Pakistan and Chaina and had one of the most valuable glaciers that is the Siachen glacier which provides water to North West part of India...

Both the countries wanted Kashmir but...

The Raja of Kashmir Raja Hari Singh wanted to stay neutral and on 12 of August 1947 the Raja signed a stand still agreement which meant that he would not join any of the parties.

But...as soon as the British left India he had to face problems with the security of Jammu and Kashmir and within 12 days of signing the agreement Pakistan wrote a warning letter saying that

"The time has come for Maharaj of Kashmir that he must take his choice and choose Pakistan and if he fails to do so the gravest possible trouble will be inevitable"

And after this on 22 October 1947 Pakistan mobilize the tribals which was called as operation gulmarg and this is when a group of fully armed men under the direct control of Pakistani generals enterd Kashmir and started a havoc and Jammu and Kashmir was out of Raja's hand.

This is when on 24th October Raja Hari Singh appealed to India for military assistant and Sardar Patel and VP Menon thought that this is the right time to get Kashmir into India.

Immediately Sir VP Menon arrived to Kashmir saw the havoc caused and signed the Instrument of Accession on 26th of October 1947 and the Indian army removed the Pakistani tribals out of Kashmir and took control of the state.

This is how Sardar Patel, Sir VP Menon did all of it in their capacity to unify India and keep Kashmir intact with India

.

Even today are soldiers fight with Yamaha (the god of death) and help us live peacefully in our country.

If we give a overview to unification of India this is just a particle of sand in the whole of the desert.....

I would like to Conclude by saying that

"Sardar Patel was the greatest PM That India never had....."
