Wonderland

It was a cold day in April and the clocks were striking one. The cold wind made everyone in Durah quiver. Kezia was standing amidst a tall building. Tired of her daily life, she stood there dreaming of going to a faraway land where no one would ever bother her and where she would live a peaceful life away from all the city chaos. She sees a green aura of light breaking through the gaps from between the buildings. She is shocked as she had never seen such a phenomenon happen before. She goes there so that she can have a better look. Lo! She is taken to a parallel universe full of magic and mysterious creatures. Kezia was enthusiastic as this was a place she always dreamt to go to. She named it “Wonderland" as it was a wonderland for her. Wonderland provided her with all the luxuries she ever wanted in life. There was no need for her to ever return to Earth. A large pink bird, which illustrated a dodo, offered hee for a ride and she didn’t resist. How could she? It took her through the land, the seas, and the mountains. Kezia could not believe all that she was seeing. She felt that it was a dream and soon it would be morning. She was then taken to a huge castle which was made of gold.

The bird directly flew into a dark room where there was a large book. As Kezia opened the book which looked like a thousand-year-old, green light cast over her face. She was taken back. The book had different kinds of spells written on it. In just a few hours, Kezia knew all of these spells by heart. But there was this one particular spell that would take her back to Earth. Kezia thought that there was no need for her to learn this spell as she never wanted to return home. Days passed by and Kezia lived happily in her "Wonderland." She didn't have to work for anything. This world provided her with all the basic necessities. 

But “Wonderland" was not only filled with wonders but also with terrors. Kezia experienced her worst terrors. But she was not heart-shaken. She always thought that 'Wonderland‟ had something wonderful to offer her. But one day a worse disaster struck, Kezia was trapped, and there was nowhere to go. A huge wave swallowed her. But still, she survived. She was almost torched to death. She wished that she could use the spell to go back to Earth. But unfortunately, she didn't learn it. She had to accept her fate. She struggled for three hours but there was no one to help her. But a little further she could see the same aura of light which brought her to "Wonderland‟. She swam towards the light and was taken back to Earth, back to the same place from where she had left and everything was back to normal. What was it that she experienced? Was it a dream or was she really taken to a land that no one thought ever existed? Kezia never found the answer to whether she really went to “Wonderland" or not. But now she doesn’t ever dream of going to another land and is very happy to live her life as it is.
