UNAPOLOGETICALLY UNLOVED

And all my life I have been told to be someone who’s easy to love and hard to forget.

They ask me to be someone I am not.

 

If I am unloved or rejected by someone

That is not my fault.

 

And not everyone will love you,

No matter how ‘easy’ you make it for them to.

 

There will be people who will never see you as enough

And those who will blame you for standing up for yourself.

 

If standing up for what I believe in makes me unlovable,

Then so be it.

 

I was born to be free and to make choices.

And if my wilderness makes it difficult for someone to

love me

 

I will not apologise for that.

If I have to be unlovable,

 

I may as well be unapologetic about it.
