Dear men: A letter from society

Dear men: A letter from society

We are sorry we didn't let you play with plastic dolls and then expected you to take care of real ones.

sorry we gave you only blues, sorry, we even gave you her right to choose.

We are sorry we made you believe the only way to be was to be callous

and made her dream of you completing her with your unconditional romance

we told her, even in our lullabies, how you'd make room for her in your palace.

We are sorry for all those tears you had to hide,

preparing you for battles you didn't have to fight;

we taught her you'd fight hers too,

giving birth to another of your kind was all she had to do.

We are sorry we didn't teach your ancestors you were responsible for the gender of the child- hell no, sorry we didn't teach them it didn't matter at all; and it all piled.

and it all piled, yet, she stood by you with a smile.

You see that's why this letter is for you, not her,

for sharing our plight, even after all this time, we don't..we don't have the courage

To call her right.

every time one of you steps and talks about toxic masculinity and dissociating sexism from femininity

a layer of our perfect-system bubble bursts and we see how far this is from paradise.

it feels like you boys and girls are starting to figure what we did wrong, so, for all the times we've wronged you, we apologize.
